Short term rentals are increasing in popularity across the country. In this episode, Linda McKissack and Dana Gentry interview Josh Shepler and Heath Green from Keller Williams and The Kentucky Life, Realty and Property Management in Lexington, Kentucky. Josh and Heath manage over 30 short term rental properties and share their formula for success with our listeners.
Investors are realizing that the return on investment (ROI) for short term rentals when compared to long term rentals can be very lucrative. In one example, an owner charged $1100 in monthly rent from a tenant who had a year long contract. The same home has generated $2500-2800 per month in short term rental income. While 8% ROI is a good investment, the short term rentals can generate from 12-15% ROI. Check with your local laws regarding short term rentals.
